Do you believe in myths and the supernatural?

Well, I do- and to some point, what I am going to tell you about is not entirely a myth.

In the Western Part of the North Atlantic Ocean, lies a loosely bound region roughly between Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. This region is believed to have been responsible for the disappearance of a number of ships and aircrafts. Nobody knows why or how but the BERMUDA TRIANGLE often called as the DEVIL'S TRIANGLE had always managed to remain as one of the most talked about geographical mysteries. So, what is this Devil's triangle and what makes it so unfathomable?

The region of Bermuda Triangle covers roughly 500,000 square miles of ocean off the southern tip of Florida. Christopher Columbus-history's most famous voyager painted a very strange picture of this area. He said that when he and his crew sailed across the triangle, a giant meteor like celestial body hit the sea and threw it in flames which was visible as a bright heavenly light from a distance. Now, historians on the contrary, have a different opinion about Bermuda Triangle. They believe that the region experiences frequent bouts of cyclones and strong wind currents because of which it is difficult for ships to sail across the region. Some also suggest that the triangle has enormous deposits of magnetic substances such as loadstone and nickel which pull the aircrafts and ships ultimately drowning them in the middle of the ocean. 

Ok, that does feel a little convincing but what happened to the USS CYCLOPS? - it sailed across the triangle with over 300 people on board. A humongous 542- foot- long Navy cargo ship sank near the Barbados island and nobody-literally nobody sent out an SOS signal to the base. The US Government dispatched numerous search and rescue teams but there were no signs of wreckage whatsoever. It was as if, the ship had disappeared magically or had been transported to a parallel world with no survivors or even dead bodies of the crew members.

In 1945, five US Navy bomber aircrafts took off from an air base in Florida. Upon nearing the Atlantic, the leader lost control and other planes started flying recklessly. Their compasses started malfunctioning. They flew until losing all of their fuel supply and dashed into the ocean. Same day, two more aircrafts disappeared in a similar manner with no signs of wreckage-yet again. 

Geographical researchers often cite the presence of extra terrestrial beings which haunt the Atlantic and devour on whatever sails or flies across the triangle. Legend also has it that the region is a home to sea monsters and gods who absolutely hate human interference in their world. The mysteries surrounding the Devil's Triangle has kept us all in a state of awe and agony. 

However, not all who try to fly through this region perish. In 1970, an American businessman took off with his father and business partner in his private jet-Beachcraft Bonanza from Andros island (Bahamas).They headed northwest towards the Florida coast. Upon gaining 11,000 ft., he started experiencing a lot of turbulence with thick grey clouds surrounding the aircraft. This was followed by blinding flashes of light which clearly did not have any resemblance to thunderstorm or lightning. Although, they were frightened, he managed to gain control of the craft and landed them safely at the runway. The group described their experience as something that was "spine-chilling, strange and insane" at the same time. The businessman also said that he felt as if the three of them were being teleported to a parallel universe with no chance of escaping. It normally takes 45-50 minutes to complete an air-borne journey from the Bahamas to Florida, but it took the three of them only 15 minutes to reach their destination. 

The Bermuda Triangle has fascinated authors and movie makers for a pretty long time now. A lot of novels, movies, magazines and books have been devoted to this mythical region- nevertheless, nobody has ever had the guts to unravel its deep, dark secrets which lie buried under its beautiful blue waters.
